Asset Builders of the Summit Honored for Outstanding Work

Denver, CO - Asset Builders of the Summit, an initiative of the Summit Prevention Alliance, received an Outstanding Asset Builder Award at a statewide event hosted by Assets for Colorado Youth in Copper Mountain on April 4-5. The Summit County initiative was honored for its outstanding work in promoting positive youth development in Summit County over the past five years.

Tara Eaton, coordinator for Asset Builders of the Summit, accepted the award. Volunteers and other members of Asset Builders of the Summit attending the ceremony were Eric Aaholm, Joe Johnson, Jeanie Ringelberg and Susan Robertson.

Said María Guajardo Lucero, executive director of Assets for Colorado Youth, "Asset Builders of the Summit has done an exceptional job of promoting the asset message through the media, through annual communitywide asset events, and through partnering in the schools."

Asset Builders of the Summit (ABS) works with educators, businesses, human service agencies and individuals across Summit County to mobilize the community around supporting and nurturing young people. The recent "Inspired by Assets Writing Contest," coordinated by ABS, is an example of how the initiative connects the asset message with an event involving the students, staff and parents from the entire Summit County School District.

Assets for Colorado Youth (ACY) is a nonprofit organization that champions positive youth development by increasing "developmental assets" in youth. Developmental assets are a research-based set of opportunities, values and positive relationships that all young people need in their lives to succeed.
