PACCT Honored for Outstanding Work

Denver, CO - A South Jeffco volunteer organization, Parents and Communities Connected Together (PACCT), received an Outstanding Asset Builder Award at a statewide summit hosted by Assets for Colorado Youth in Copper Mountain on April 4-5. PACCT was honored for its outstanding work in promoting positive youth development and building hope out of tragedy after the Columbine High School shootings.

Lori Hoffner, the executive director of PACCT, accepted the award.

Said María Guajardo Lucero, executive director of Assets for Colorado Youth, "Some of the heroes who emerged from the Columbine tragedy were asset builders from PACCT who quickly mobilized to open the Columbine Connections community and teen centers and to staff them with victims advocates. During the months of confusion and chaos, Columbine Connections provided a positive, safe and fun place for young people to go."

PACCT continues to be active in promoting the developmental assets to improve the lives of young people in South Jefferson County.

Assets for Colorado Youth (ACY) is a nonprofit organization that champions positive youth development by increasing developmental assets in youth. Developmental assets are a research-based set of opportunities, values and positive relationships that all young people need in their lives to succeed.
